I am senior researcher and lecturer in the Environmental Economics and Resource Management group at University of Freiburg. My primary research interests are interdependencies between economic and ecological systems, ecosystem services trade-off analysis and environmental valuation under risk. So far, my teaching has mainly focused on microeconomic theory, quantitative methods in economics and environmental and resource economics. In Freiburg, I teach microeconomic theory for M.Sc. Renewable Energy Engineering and Management and M.Sc. Environmnental Governance. Part of my research is under the “Sustainable coastal land management: Trade-offs in ecosystem services (COMTESS)” project. Currently, my coauthors and I are also working on developing a microeconomic approach for valuing public environmental goods under risk. Before joining University of Freiburg, I was employed as senior researcher at University of Lüneburg and before coming to Germany in 2013, I was an assistant professor in Economics at BRAC University in Dhaka, Bangladesh. I finished my PhD degree in Economics from the University of Wyoming with specializations in environmental and resource economics and financial economics. In my leisure time, I like to watch it snow (whenever possible) and read good spy fictions, especially, those set during the Cold War.
